Schaufenster - Gallery of the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam
Jarosław Fliciński (*1965, lives in Gdansk) belongs to the few Polish artists
of the middle or younger generation, who reflect upon the modernist
constructive tradition. Although a long way away from following the great
Polish masters Strzemiński, Kobro or Staszewski, Fliciński utilises grid-form designs
from kitchen towels or table cloths, as well as elements out of Hard Edge and
Pop Art. In the former Zamość academy he realised a monumental wall painting
composed of concentric ellipses, placed over each other and in doing so
generated optically distorted grid structures. In the gallery of the University
of the Applied Sciences Potsdam a strict concentric painting can be seen
on a wall positioned freely within the space.
